HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Huntington will be the host city for the 2009 WV 5K Championship Race.
Race organizers made the announcement during a news conference on Wednesday. They say this is the first 5K championship to be held in the state in more than 10 years.
The race will take place on June 6 starting at 8 a.m. The race will start and end on Veteran’s Memorial Boulevard.
“We are excited that Huntington was selected as the host city. This race will be for the entire family and will be an event for individuals that travel around the world racing professionally as well as someone who is ready to try their fist 5K.” said Pat Riley, Race Director.
Organizers say they hope to attract 1,000 participants.
The race is sanctioned by USATF.

I'm guessing that's why they paved the 14th St in the west end of huntington. Have to make sure everyone can see the new roads. PAVE THEM ALL because they need it.
