It can be a quick break from work or a ritual after a meal. Some smokers may tell you its an essential part of their day. And for smokers in Ashland, Kentucky, their days will soon change.
Ashland is starting a city-wide smoking ban, and everyone has been preparing in their own unique way.
Shawn Burbaker was smoking outside. He had four hours left before he had to on Saturday, but he was outside, just to get used to the idea.
Shawn just finished eating at Katie's corner, which is a popular Ashland restaurant that has many customers just like him, but not everyone at Katie’s corner thinks the ban is a bad idea.
So with the ban on its way late Saturday, the owners decided to have a little fun. They printed t-shirts encouraging everyone to put their butts out at midnight. It was a strategy designed to lighten the effect of the ban on the register.
