Forty-four soldiers with the 261st Ordinance Company are back home with their families after spending more than a year in Kuwait. All of the men and women in the unit returned home safely Saturday afternoon at Yeager Airport.

They have been without their loved ones since August of 2005. Now, the soldiers are back home with their families and friends.

When Lieutenant Donald Thomas left for Kuwait, hadn’t even arrived yet. He was born while Thomas was stationed in Kuwait.

“It's a wonderful feeling knowing him and getting to meet him finally,” said Thomas. “It's just beyond words really.”

The soldiers were also celebrating that they all made it home alive.

“That makes me feel the best of anything just knowing everybody came home to meet their families,” said Thomas.

And all the soldiers being back at home with their families was worth a huge celebration.
