CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia is injecting another $293.6 million from its share of federal stimulus funding into the state's economy.
Governor Joe Manchin signed legislation Friday that divvies up the amount among several dozen agencies.
More than $126 million will help the Medicaid, foster care, child support enforcement, food stamp and independent living programs.
The state Department of Education is earmarked for $72 million, with $40 million benefiting its aid for exceptional children program.
The Department of Environmental Protection will get $35.6 for its projects. Other recipients include Military Affairs and Public Safety, the Crime Victims Compensation Fund and public transit.
Road projects received $40 million in stimulus last month.

I am grateful to recieve the stimulus money, my husband and I are both going to college and struggling to make it. We were able to purchase winter clothes and boots for the kids as well as pay our bills. However, there are a lot of people around me who are spending this money on drugs, getting their hair and nails done...my question is why would the government send out checks that require no proof of where the money is going? I have done the right thing, but how many hundreds of thousands aren't??
and how much goes into the politicians pockets? Now....about these roads needing paved....
I don't understand the SBA is funding schools while the State is taking more stimulus money. Why would you be spending millions when you're borrowing to pay for things now? This stimulus money isn't free. How is WV going to pay it back?
