A lot of folks in our region enjoy hunting. They like getting out in the woods and enjoying the peace and quiet. But some people have physical obstacles blocking their path to the outdoors. On Saturday, one group of hunters in our region were able to overcome their obstacles and take part in a special hunt.

On Saturday, the National Wild Turkey Federation and the Wheeling Sportsman sponsored an outreach that provides an opportunity for hunters to get back in the woods.

Most days, Keith Evans has too much trouble walking through the woods to hunt, but thanks to a lot of help, he had the opportunity of celebrating the harvest of a big doe.

He wasn't the only one with something to smile about. A boy named Jacob got one too.

Whether it's restoring a special bond between father and son, or just a chance to have a little fun, most importantly this hunt provided memories...

It was a very successful event. Sixteen hunters took part in the event. Of course, safety was the biggest concern for the hunters. The hunt was on a closed wildlife preserve and all hunters were driven out to their blinds using off-road vehicles. Everyone was also paired with a guide to help them.
