Child Dies In Huntington Apartment Fire

William Harmon Junior died Thursday morning when fire ripped through his home in Huntington. The baby's mother, Amanda, and four other children were injured.

The fire also left dozens of other families homeless after smoke and water damage ruined some of the units in that apartment building.

People stood in awe while fire fighters and neighbors rescued children from a burning apartment building in West Huntington. But it was too late for the toddler. He died from the smoke and flames.

The fire forced many people out of the building without any time to grab their clothes or shoes The Salvation Army is helping families with hotel rooms and money for food and clothing.

Firefighters say they believe the fire started because kids were playing with matches.

Amanda Harmon is being held at the hospital for observation.

Amanda's other children, Journey and Nellie Harmon, are in fair condition.

Also in fair condition are Jada Kessick and her son Deshaun.
