Lincoln County's favorite son was honored in a big way. Thursday afternoon, General Chuck Yeager talked with students at the new high school. Earlier in the day, a monument at the intersection of Route 214 and Corridor G was dedicated in his honor.
The road leading to Hamlin, the place where the general grew up, is called Yeager Highway. Hundreds turned out to celebrate the living legend. General Yeager was the first man to break the sound barrier.
Governor Joe Manchin, General Alan Tackett and Senator Earl Ray Tomblin were also on hand.
