HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Employees at a local hospital had a great boost -- an all-expense paid trip for two to New York City was up for grabs.
All they had to do was walk the equivalent of there and back first. Only one could win the trip, but in the end they were all winners in more ways than one.
"I lost 54 pounds," Christie Ayoub said.
She said she has more energy and her diabetes is better.
A patient transporter at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Ayoub already logs a lot of miles on a daily basis. But when the hospital started an employee walking program -- complete with pedometers and incentives -- she stepped it up.
It's called the Amazing Race, and it's yielded some amazing results for Ayoub. We first caught up with her halfway through the program last November. She already had walked more than 1,000 miles -- roughly the distance to New York City and back.
About 80 local people who have walked the equivalent distant to New York City as least once are up for a drawing for an all-expense paid trip for two to the Big Apple.

This is indeed an inspiring story. That walking program is a brilliant idea that every company should employ. And giving a prize for an expense-paid trip to New York was a great incentive. But even though they don't win, they are already winners based on lost weight and better health.
