Local political watchdog Wanda Carney and former Kanawha County school board member Betty Jarvis got probation Monday for interfering in a murder investigation in Mingo County.
A jury found the pair guilty of obstruction in September.
Police say Jarvis and Carney broke into the home of a murder suspect and took several items while conducting an investigation into the murder of Carla Collins. At the time, Jarvis' nephew was one of many people charged in the death of Collins. Walter Harmon was sentenced earlier this year on other charges in connection with the death.
Jarvis and Carney were placed on home confinement for three months but were given credit for 45 days served.
