A missing brother and sister: were found dead today. Donald Carey and Patricia Carey-Turner are from North Matewan in Mingo County, West Virginia.

They were reported missing on October 17th. This morning, more than a week later, their bodies were found just a few miles away: across the state line into McCarr, Kentucky. Their bodies were found in a pickup truck...which landed upside down in the Tug Fork River. Police do not suspect foul play.

After all the wild rumors and speculation over eight days of wondering....the search for a missing brother and sister
ended with a simple and tragic explanation. Police say a single vehicle wreck killed Donald Carey and his sister Patricia.

The truck Donald was driving left the roadway at McCarr and plunged over the steep riverbank. Friends and family came by to look at the scene today, still trying to accept what happened.

Mingo sheriff's deputies investigated more than 7-hundred different tips and leads trying to find the missing siblings..it made it difficult to separate fact from fiction. That something turned out to be two fishermen who spotted a tire sticking out of the water. The truck was upside down and almost entirely submerged after hitting trees on the way down, but even this discovery hasn't ended some of the questions about how it happened.

There were no skid marks at the scene, police are still trying to determine how fast the truck was going. Police are still waiting on preliminary autopsy results to determine exactly what killed Donald and Patricia: the impact of the wreck itself or the fact the truck became submerged in the water.
