"For the people in the 2nd District to say 'yes' to me and send me back is tremendously gratifying," said Representative Shelley Moore Capito just minutes after the race was called.

Former U-S Attorney Mike Callaghan failed in his attempt to make West Virginia's Congressional delegation an all-Democratic one. Despite his defeat, Callaghan says he's happy about his campaign and feels the voters still heard his message. "We ran a great campaign and people out there are ready for change. I think they heard my message of change," said Callaghan.

Three-term Republican Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito won the election by 14%. And she says she's ready to go back to work for the people of West Virginia. "I've said it in 2002 and 2004, I am ready to go back to work for West Virginia," said Representative Capito.

Callaghan hoped national dissatisfaction with President Bush would turn voters against Capito. Unlike some G-O-P candidates, Capito did not try to distance herself from the president. In July President Bush made a stop in Charleston to help raise money for Capito's re-election campaign. That fundraiser brought in more than half a million dollars for Representative Capito.

The congresswoman says her focus when she returns to Washington will be the war in Iraq.
