Cabell and Wayne County voters sent Doug Reynolds to the House of Delegates with the most votes in the 16th district Tuesday night.

Reynolds told WSAZ reporter Doug Korstanje it's hard to pinpoint the difference for him this year.

"I wish I could tell you there was some magic formula, cause you could probably sell it for a lot of money, but I really don't know," Reynolds said. "You work hard and it was a close race I think if you look from top to sixth."

Reynolds joins Dale Stephens and Kelli Sobonya in the 16th.
In the 15th district, longtime delegate Margarette Leach lost her bid for re-election. Republican candidate Carol Miller joins Jim Morgan and Kevin Craig to represent the 15th. Despite being in the minority party, Miller says she can make it work.

"I'm a good people person and I will work them, because the goal is to move our state forward," Miller said.
Voters also sent Evan Jenkins back to Charleston for another term as state senator. Jenkins took the race in the 5th District by a two to one margin over opponent Dr. Tom Scott.

"I am really very appreciative and very humbled by the vote of confidence the voters have given me," Jenkins said. "I ran a campaign this time of promises made, promises delivered. All of my campaign literature really focused on the things I said I would work on during the 4 year term I've just had and what the results of those 4 years were."

Jenkins said work will begin immediately with a special session this week to handle tax reform in West Virginia.
In the city of Huntington, voters overwhelmingly rejected two levies.

The Park Board levy would have tripled the park board's budget. The board drew heat for not having enough specifics on how the money would be used.

With the failure of the street levy in Huntington, there will be no street paving this year or next year in the city.
