The House of Delegates could vote Sunday Governor Manchin's special session tax bills. But several House members are questioning his food tax proposal.

The Senate passed all eleven Manchin tax bills to the House

For businesses, the governor has proposed slightly cutting two
taxes, expanding two existing tax breaks and repealing two tax

Manchin also wants to increase income tax withholdings from non-
or part-time residents and offer income tax breaks to poorer
seniors and families.

Another proposal would reduce the sales tax on groceries from
five cents per dollar to three cents by mid-2008. That bill would
also set a six percent tax on candy, soft drinks and vending
machine food.

Some delegates favor knocking just one cent off the food tax for
now. Others say a separate tax for "bad" food is too much trouble
for mom-and-pop grocers.
