Three Marshall University students who police say vandalized the Memorial Fountain Sunday night are learning a tough lesson Monday.

Police say the students poured four-and-half gallons of liquid Tide in the fountain.

The University had to empty the fountain Monday morning, and the students who did it, were spending the day cleaning up the mess.

The students could have been charged with a crime, but instead, the University says the all day cleanup job in front of fellow students will be a good punishment.
