UPDATE: Wednesday 6/3
POMEROY, Ohio (WSAZ) --The Meigs County Sheriff says concerns of a mysterious clown approaching children, then fleeing are really a "big misunderstanding that got blown out of proportion."

Sheriff Robert Beegle tells WSAZ.com that the man was a student at an area clown school and had not changed out of his costume and makeup.

Sheriff Beegle say officers interviewed that man Tuesday night and also did a background check. They also checked his computer.

Beegle says nothing suspicious was found and the case is closed.

Original Story
MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Clowns are supposed to be fun and entertaining, but police say a mysterious clown in Meigs County, Ohio is becoming a concern for parents and children.

Investigators say the clown approaches children, but flees when adults come near.

They say he’s showed up in two places where kids hang out, including a ball field in Pomeroy where he even did some juggling for them.

Police have been on the lookout for a tall man with a red wig and clown make-up. Parents say the clown called himself "Loopey" and juggled lemons.

Deputies tell us they do have a suspect, but they're not even sure it's the right guy.

So far, no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Meigs County Sheriff's Department.

Ok. Obviously we all should know by now that us citizens need to take care of ourselves despite whatever the almighty police dept. says. Parents: keep your kids in sight. It sounds simple, but I know it isn't.
