If you're looking to work for Putnam County be prepared to submit to a drug test.
Tuesday morning commissioners approved drug testing for all new hires and random testing for current employees who work in safety related areas.
Those jobs are described as people who carry weapons or use county vehicles. Deputies, EMS workers and 911 dispatchers for example will all be subject to random testing.
The commission hopes in two weeks to have a contract set up with a third party firm who will organize the testing.
Also Tuesday morning the commission voted to established a new policy for pre-employment background checks -- they say they've always done them but now they're tightening their procedures.
