Body Pulled From Hocking River in Athens County

Athens County Sheriff's investigators are now trying to figure out if the body is that of a Stewart woman who has been missing since Friday.

Sheriff Vern Castle says the body was found early this afternoon in the Hocking River near Route 144 in Stewart. Officials pulled the body out of the river around 4:00 Tuesday.

Investigators have been searching the area for a missing woman, 36-year old Diane Miller of Stewart. She disappeared Friday after leaving her home on foot. Castle says they aren't sure if the body is Miller.

"We've been working with the family. We were down here with a boat yesterday," said Castle. "We can't find anyone who knew her, but I can't tell you for sure right now if that's who it is."

The body is being taken to Montgomery County for an autopsy.
