Holiday Shopping Safety

Before you go bargain hunting, make sure no one steals your holiday cheer.

The holiday shopping season is the biggest time of the year for credit card use, but it's also the busiest time for thieves.

On Wednesday, West Virginia's attorney general was at Taylor Books in Charleston, talking to consumers about how to protect themselves against credit card fraud.

The biggest tip, keep records.

Darrell McGraw, West Virginia Attorney General, said, "When you're shopping keep a close eye on credit card. Protect themselves only use credit cards in little machines, record transaction. Then put it back in your pocket."

Experts also say to make sure you fill out the receipt completely.

Businesses should always make sure the card is signed.

Also, the clerk should ask for a photo ID.
