Lawrence Co. No Ambulance Service

The clock is ticking over ambulance coverage in Lawrence Co., Kentucky, where many hope a do or die deadline does not become a life or death situation. The emergency involves reaching an agreement over profits and politics.
The county's only ambulance service, Trans Star, is running on borrowed time. Earlier this year, Lawrence county's stat ambulance gave up its license amid a state investigation into accusations of substandard practices.
Trans Star came in on an emergency basis, and the owner says he's struggling to make a profit. County judge executive Phillp Carter was not avaialble for comment, handing out a statement that says they're working out details and Trans Star is staying, but only unitl 4 p.m. Friday.
That's when Trans Star's owner says without a subsidy agreement, the ambulance service will leave lawrence county for good.
