Thursday is the first day of Ohio's new statewide smoking ban.
The ban went into effect at midnight, despite a last-minute suit that was filed by a trade group representing liquor license holders.
In the suit, the group challenged the ban's constitutionality and asked for a temporary restraining order, but none has been granted.
Voters approved the ban November 7.
It prohibits smoking in nearly all public buildings and work places.
Bar and restaurants and other business owners have voiced concern about the impact, and warn they will lose customers to bordering states.
