Salt trucks were out and about Thursday afternoon.

The snow started mid-morning in Cabell County, looking wild and fierce for a short time as it fell.

But road surface temperatures were a few degrees above the freezing mark.

And state and local road crews here say the white stuff has to stick before they get out and treat the highways and byways.

The first Huntington area salt truck took off to check a slick spot in the west end Thursday afternoon.

The Barboursville road crew chief tells us his radar checks look like there will be minimal salt trucks out Thursday, but that could change.
