Man From Michigan Dies In Plane Crash

Christian Grahl of Coldwater, Michigan died when his plane went down near Rt. 129 in Nicholas County.

A worker at the Gerald L. Rader Field Airport in Summersville told WSAZ the pilot radioed that his plane was "taking on ice," causing the engine to fail. He tried to land in a field 5 miles west of the airport, but crashed while landing.

Grahl reportedly died at the scene. No other people were on board

According to the flight plan, he took off from the Branch County, Michigan airport about 11:30 and was flying to Raleigh, North Carolina.

The plane crashed just before 1pm near Poe off Route 129.
