A woman is dead tonight after she was hit by a train.
It happened on 1st Avenue and 5th Street in Nitro just before 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Police say the woman was walking on the tracks when she was hit.
The train's conductor called police after the train struck the woman. Police say the woman was dead when they arrived.
They have not been able to identify the woman because she was not carrying any identification. Police are still trying to figure out why the woman was walking on the tracks.
