Man Dead After Standoff in Mingo County

A man from Mingo County, who barricaded himself in a house with a high-powered rifle, died Monday night.

It happened along the Right Fork of Ben Creek near Gilbert in Mingo County.

Police say Howard Stanley came out of his twice, each time firing a shot at them, then went back inside.

Shortly after 7:30, Stanley came out again, this time with two rifles.

He fired a shot at the troopers. Stanley was hit at least one time when troopers shot back.
