The state of Ohio says a deficiency in the design of a roller coaster at Paramount's Kings Island near Cincinnati led to an accident in July that injured 27 passengers.
The Ohio Department of Agriculture ordered the Son of Beast ride at Paramount's Kings Island in suburban Mason shut down after the accident.
Most of the passengers injured were treated for bruises.
But one woman was hospitalized for four days.
One of the riders is from Ona, West Virginia.
The state's investigation showed that the primary cause of the ride failure was a structural design deficiency that allowed a a vertical wooden support to crack because it could not support the weight.
The state says the failure of that support led to the failure of two others and caused a dip in the tracks that led to the rough ride.
