Police to Make Final Search for Toddler

Police say they have all the evidence they need to convict Tonya Sloan of murder. But officers plan a final search of the Ohio River on Saturday.

Police say Sloan killed her nephew Cody Jenkins in mid-December of last year at a trailer in Salt Rock.

Officers say Sloan tied the boy's body to a tire rim and then threw it in the river from the 17th Street Bridge.

Sloan later staged an abduction in Putnam County in an effort to explain why Cody was missing.

Several searches of the river have turned up nothing.

But West Virginia State Police want to try one more time this weekend to see if they can find the boy's remains or the tire rim.

They plan to recreate the disposal of Cody's body by throwing another weighted tire in the river to see how far it travels in the water. That may help them find the original tire rim.

Dive team specialists from Pickaway County in Ohio will help WV State Police with the search on Saturday.
