They protect us throughout the year, but Thursday, they made sure everyone enjoys Christmas.

Jolly Ole Saint Nick, along with West Virginia State Police, Charleston Police Department and the National Guard took some kids shopping at Toys R Us in South Charleston.

It's part of the annual "Shop With A Cop" program.

The kids raced through the aisles picking out all sorts of things, some even picked up some stuff for their brothers and sisters.

Some of the kids knew exactly what they wanted.

Kristen Davis of South Charleston, said, "I want makeup, shoes, hair all the stuff I get with. Oh my goodness."

While other children weren't quite sure.

Shane Bush of South Charleston, said, "A bike, toys. I don't know what there's a lot of here. I don't know what to pick out."

Every year Catenary Coal donates money to the program.
