PORTSMOUTH, Oh. (WSAZ) -- A father who became ill and collapsed on the floor was saved by his young child who called for help.

Anthony Evans tells WSAZ.com that if it hadn't been for his 5-year-old daughter Kaelyn, he wouldn't be here today.

Anthony became ill Thursday and eventually blacked out and collapsed in the bathroom of his home in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Three of his children ages five, four and 18 months were there at the time. Kaelyn say him on the floor and called her big sister using a cell phone.

Anthony's older daughter called 911 and he was rushed to the hospital.

Doctors are still trying to figure out what is wrong but suspect it's a stroke or some other neurological disorder.

The Evans family says it's very thankful for Kaelyn. Doctors say Anthony could have suffered severe damage or death if it wasn't for Kaelyn.

To make sure your children are prepared in an emergency there are some important tips. First, make sure you keep an updated list of all phone numbers they may need. It should be kept in the same place and within reach. Also, teach your kids how to call 911. Make sure he or she can recite their full name and address. Finally, they also need to be able to clearly say why they are calling -- explaining what's the emergency.
