PETERSBURG, W.Va. (AP) -- The U.S. Forest Service says firefighters have contained 50 percent of a wildfire that's burned about 2.5 square miles in Pendleton County.

The fire has been burning since Nov. 10 in the Smoke Hole Area of the Monongahela National Forest about 11 miles southwest of Petersburg. About 190 firefighters and support staff are battling the fire.

The Forest Service says fire crews made good progress Saturday and are mopping up the wildfire's south and east flanks. Crews will attack any remaining active fire on Sunday and strengthen the fire line in areas where there's no active burning.

No structural damage has been reported.
