Ashland Woman Arrested on Heroin Trafficking Charge

ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- An undercover drug buy conducted by the Boyd County Sheriff's Department ended with a woman arrested for selling heroin.

It happened about 9 p.m. Wednesday. According to investigators, undercover deputies purchased heroin from Thelma Wawi, 50, of Ashland at her home in the 200 block of Lee Street. Deputies then arrested Wawi and searched her house, where they say they found additional heroin, other narcotics, drug paraphernalia and cash.

Wawi is charged with felony drug trafficking. She is being held in the Boyd County Detention Center.
