Family and friends said goodbye on Saturday to Trooper Jonathan Leonard. He died earlier this week in a two car crash in Pike County, Kentucky. On Saturday afternoon, family and friends gathered to remember Trooper Leonard.

State Troopers played taps, lowered the flag to half staff and said goodbye to one of their own with a 21-gun salute.

Along with troopers, hundreds of friends and family showed up at Belfry High School to say goodbye to Kentucky State Trooper Jonathan Leonard. It was a tremendous show of support by a community touched by his service and saddened by his loss.

The 28-year-old trooper was killed in a car accident on U.S. 119. Investigators say he turned into the path of an oncoming car, but those at his funeral say it is not a day to remember the tragic accident, but the compassion and dedication that he lived with every day.

A life cut short and a trooper laid to rest, who wanted only to serve.

State Troopers from several states showed up to pay tribute to Leonard on Saturday. The man that Leonard collided with, Eugene Sisco, was airlifted from the scene and taken to UK hospital in serious condition. Sisco is now awake and recovering from his injuries, but family members say he has a long road ahead of him.
