Christmas came early for Clendenin Volunteer Firefighters. They received their Christmas present a week ago, but it was way too big to fit under any Christmas tree.

Clendenin Volunteer Firefighters have a brand new toy just in time for Christmas…a $360,000 thousand dollar fire truck.

Thirty-thousand dollars of the total came from community donations, and was just enough to put a down payment on the new truck. The old one was almost 20 years old. The truck will make it easier for firefighters to do their job, and that's something residents who depend on the fire department in their time of need say it was money well spent.

Each and every day, Clendenin's 28 volunteer firefighters give a lot to their community and ask for nothing in return.

And now the community is trying to return the favor with a brand new fire truck.

The Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department responds to about 400 calls a year, and covers a 50 square mile radius. Firefighters say the new truck will cut a significant amount of time off their rescue efforts.
