Boone County Sheriff's detectives are investigating a Christmas Day shooting in a bar where a beating death happened over the weekend. Investigators say Johnny Gillispie was shot as he and four other men attacked Mike Chapman. Chapman's gun went off during the struggle, wounding Gillispie. Gillispe was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center where he's in fair condition.

The shooting happened around 8 pm Monday night at Sterno's Bar and Grill in Ashford. That's where Walter McDermott was killed Saturday night after police say Jason Scott Gillispie -- Johnny Gillispie's son -- hit McDermott several times in the head with a pool cue. McDermott died from his injuries. Police arrested the younger Gillispie a short time later.

No one has been charged in the shooting of Johnny Gillispie. Although Chapman knew McDerment, he said the shooting was not related to the man's death.
