A man standing in the middle of Route 60 was struck and killed by a car Tuesday night in Putnam County.

It happened at about 7:30pm near the Par Four miniature golf course in Hurricane.

Firefighters say the 52-year-old man was walking in the middle of the street when he was struck. Right now, it's not known why the man was walking in the street, but we're told he was wearing dark clothing, making it difficult for drivers to see him.

Police have questioned the driver of the vehicle that struck the man. They don't anticipate filing any charges.

Route 60 was closed for more than an hour, but it's now back open.
