CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Gov. Joe Manchin appeared at a news conference in bare feet to promote an international relief effort that provides shoes for children.
The governor was joined Wednesday by Samaritan’s Feet International founder Emmanuel Ohonme at the state Capitol.
Together they kicked off the West Virginia Shoes of Hope initiative.
The goal of Charlotte, N.C.-based Samaritan's Feet is to provide 10 million pairs of shoes for children.
Organizers say so far nearly 1 million pairs have been collected worldwide.

J your Governor has already set the example. Do people in WV wear shoes? Does the hills make one leg shorter than the other? I don't know!

People who ask if we wear shoes in WV are obviously weak minded idiots who have never traveled, read a book, or gotten out of their mom's basement. I look forward to punching anyone in the face who asks that question. Already have twice. Good luck out of staters, you may just have a big black eye next time you ask such a stupid, inane, and ignorant question.
