CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- For a little more than a month, about 20 yoga enthusiasts have been meeting at Magic Island in Charleston.

They’ve been getting up bright and early to perform the ancient exercise.

Photojournalist John Green spoke with the instructor Debra Mattingly, who says yoga may be a good choice to help you stay fit both physically and mentally.

“It helps you with concentration- it helps you with practicing one thing at a time, like in our work, like when we are multi-tasking. Sometimes we aren’t as effective that way. So it can help you stay a little more balanced throughout your day,” Mattingly said.

The group will continue to meet at 6am on Magic Island until the end of July.
