CROSS LANES, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Three people are facing criminal charges after they were allegedly caught cooking meth inside a motel room.

The bust happened around 10:30 a.m. at the Motel 6 in Cross Lanes.

The Metro Drug Unit tells WSAZ.com officers received a tip that someone was operating a meth lab at the motel. When officers arrived, they smelled a strong odor coming from one of the motel rooms and then later found the active lab.

Officers tell WSAZ.com Joe Strickland, 32, of Elkview, Donny Kyle, 37, of St. Albans, and Rebecca Walker were charged with operating a clandestine lab. Walker's hometown and age were not immediately available.

Motel 6 will have to clean out the meth chemicals before the room is rented out again. This can be a long and expensive process.
