Teen Charged with Setting Clendenin Fire

Police have arrested and charged an 18 year Roane County High School student with setting two fires in northern Kanawha County Friday night.

The ATF and Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies charged Tiara Spencer with two counts of first degree arson. Spencer is from Clendenin.

According to the criminal complaint, Spencer confessed that she and another person started the fires at the Sav-A-Lot grocery store on Route 4, and then started the fire at the Dollar General Store inside the town of Clendenin.

The fires started at about 6pm Friday night. It caused thousands of dollars in damage. More than seven fire departments fought the fire for hours.

Magistrate Kim Aaron set Spencer's bond at $500,000 cash. Spencer is being held at the South Central Regional Jail.

Police have not charged anyone else with the arson, but say more arrests could come in the future.
