Many people like ringing in the New Year with a little bubbly, but for the first time in six years, New Year's Eve falls on a Sunday!

In Kentucky on Saturday evening, last minute shopping brought new meaning.

Every once in a blue moon, New Year’s Eve falls on a Sunday, which has many bluegrass residents buying their alcohol on a Sunday this year.

All liquor stores in the region will be closed on New Year’s Eve. Kentucky is the only state in our region not selling any alcohol. Ohio will allow beer sales, while only beer and wine can be sold in West Virginia.

The liquor store managers don't mind the blue laws. They say they'll make up for it. But for people in Ashland, a happy New Year means a buying their spirits on a Saturday.

The liquor store managers we talked to on Saturday night say wine is their big seller before the New Year.
