Police say after shooting Pauley, Brisendine then shot himself in the stomach in an apparent attempted suicide. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening, though.
Police say the shooting happening in front of the men's wives and Pauley's children
Detecitves say domestic disputes are sadly common during this time of year.
"Every homicide is a different situation, different circumstance," said Lt Greg Young with the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department. "I don't know if you could time them. If we knew what caused them, we would stop them all."
Police are still investigating the nature of the dispute and what caused it to turn deadly.
