Workers across Ohio anticipated the clock striking twelve on New Year’s Eve. That's because the New Year also brings a heftier paycheck.

The state's new minimum wage went into effect on Monday, bringing the national minimum of $5.15 an hour up to $6.85.

Minimum wage could soon be on the table of discussion at the federal level. It's already on the Democratic agenda for the upcoming legislative session.
