The front door was smashed and police say the place was ransacked.
But thankfully none of the animals at the Kanawha-Charleston Animal Shelter were hurt Monday night during a break-in.
Police spent Tuesday morning gathering evidence, including fingerprints to see who's responsible.
Employees say when they arrived they found glass shattered and flyers all over the floor.
The veterinarian's office was also a target.
Several wires were cut, knocking out phone service.
The shelter was closed Tuesday while workers checked inventory to see if anything was taken.
