Copper thieves steal from a substation near Ironton. Now, thousands of customers will spend tonight in the dark. The substation is located in a remote area of Lawrence County, Ohio.

Steve Oden with Buckeye Rural Electric says thieves caused so much damage to the high voltage substation that they have to shut it down before it burns down. The shut-down is going on right now.

As a result, Oden says thousands of customers in the Pedro and Cannons Creek area will lose power Sunday night.
