Birthday's give you a chance to reflect on your past and look forward to the next year. That's exactly what people in Ripley are doing. The town is almost 200 year's old, and the city is not only celebrating the past, it's also celebrating Ripley's future.

A childhood in Ripley means a memory flooded with happiness.

Ripley has 175 years worth of history. City leaders, congress woman Shelley Moore Capito and some of the city's three thousand people gathered to celebrate its past.

City leaders hope the good days are not behind them. Ripley's motto is proud of its past and looking forward to the future, and the future looks bright for Ripley.

A new dialysis center and a new super Wal-Mart will open in a few months. Main Street will undergo a $1.6 million dollar renovation this year. Things are changing in Ripley, but one thing people want to stay the same is the city's small town charm.

Ripley…a small town with hopes of a big future.

During the celebration, city leaders unveiled Ripley's new emblem in the City Council chambers and a 175th anniversary flag.
