GREENUP, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A Kentucky lawmaker representing Carter and Lewis Counties could soon have a new job.
On Tuesday, a Democratic committee chose State Representative Robin Webb as its candidate to fill a vacant State Senate seat.
Charlie Borders resigned last week to take a position with the Kentucky Public Service Commission.
Borders represented the 18th District in the State Senate.
Webb, who currently represents the 96th District in the Kentucky House of Representatives, will face Republican Jack Ditty in the August 25 special election.
The vote could be crucial for Democrats who lost control of the State Senate in 2000.
Republicans hold a 20-16 majority after Borders' resignation.

Well the truth came out about Ditty not taken CHIPS and Medicaid. Wsaz said he was a provider but never has send a claim to the state for medical attention for anyone that draw these kind of Health care. WSAZ should have check this out before removing Webb's ads. I think they should apologias her on TV. That will probably never happen. TO FURIOUS- She also vote on the bill's to help get money in bills that these grants come from for other district besides her. You need to check out how Frankfort legislature's where grant money from. Furious the Greenup County Democrat don't need people like you in their party , so after you vote to Ditty go change your Registration also to Rep.
WHY?? do we have to listen to all those Negative adds on the politations. I wish they would change the law for just tell the truth on what your plans are & quit cuting each other down. I really dread when it's time for the elections.
I am furious after receiving this weeks Greenup County newspaper, In it were two pictures of Robin Webb and Gov, Beshear presenting grant checks from Frankfort to Greenup's Mayor and County Sheriff. Why would Ms Webb be seeking grant money for Greenup County, she is not our Representative. I think this is another political move to make it appear she had something to do with seeking these grants, which I'm sure she did not. The timing of these photos is amazing, five days before the Senate election. To the democratic party of Greenup County, You got it wrong this time. I am a registered Democrat but will vote for Dr. Jack Ditty who I think is the best choice in this election.
