HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- AEP says they are making progress in restoring power to thousands of customers in the area after overnight storms.

Late Friday afternoon, an AEP spokesperson told WSAZ.com that they restored power to 21,000 customers Friday, but still have 11,000 without service.

Officials say most areas will have service restored late Friday night.

But the hardest hit areas, that include Cabell and Wayne counties, may not have service restored until Saturday night or Sunday.

AEP officials say the high winds knocked down utility poles, and caused trees to fall into power lines.

Below are the latest outage numbers, as of 5:15 p.m., according to AEP's website:

West Virginia:
Boone: 113
Cabell: 3,148
Kanawha: 105
Lincoln: 242
Mason: 103
Putnam: 594
Wayne: 2,142

Ohio:
Lawrence: 746

Kentucky:
Boyd: 488
