WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (AP) - Jerry West is lending his name and memorabilia to a new steakhouse at The Greenbrier resort.
The NBA Hall of Famer and new resort owner Jim Justice announced the partnership Thursday.
Justice said he hopes the yet-unnamed steakhouse opens by Oct. 1 to coincide with the debut of a limited version of a planned underground casino.
West says he's working on a menu and wants to decorate the restaurant with old uniforms and other memorabilia.
Justice says the restaurant will be first class and a shrine to his friend.
"We're going to make it the greatest steakhouse, period," said Justice.
West played at West Virginia University from 1956 to 1960 and spent his entire NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Justice bought the resort out of bankruptcy for $20.1 million in May.

I am a part of the last graduating class from East Bank High School. We invited Jerry West to come speak at our graduation, since it was the last class ever from the school he attended. At that time he had more important things he had to attend to. I guess since there wasn't gonna be anything in it for him he didn't want to be apart. I think when you come from parts of WV that are not filled with wealthy, successful people then you become part of that lifestyle you lose sight of things. I hope bringing some of himself back to WV will help him remember where he came from.
