Jones was in the hospital just hours earlier after ringing in the new year with friends. He was walking with friends when he was hit by a car. The driver -- 19 year old Tim Brown took off. Brown later turned himself in.

Jones has been in critical condition but is making steady improvements. He is now conscious and able to learn WVU's coach sent a football his way and the school president sent a fruit basket. His friends in Sissonville have set up a fund to help with the medical bill.
