The Division of Highways is asking the Legislature to approve its budget that includes raising taxes and fees.
The Director of the DOH says $55-million could be raised by renewing the gas tax that expires in August.
Another $20-million would be raised by upping the license plate fee from $30 to $40, and doubling your driver's license fee from $12.50 to $25.
The director also asked funds being diverted from the road fund to help other agencies be eliminated.
The DOH is in need of $350-million for construction and maintenance work.
