The Huntington Fire Department held a 4pm news conference to give an update on the investigation into the fire that killed nine people. They said they know where the fire started.

Fire Chief Greg Fuller said the investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing. He confirmed the fire started in apartment 103 on the second floor in or around a living room closet.

Despite any rumors, Fuller said there is no evidence of a meth lab. Utilities (electrical, heating, natural gas) have also been ruled out as the fire's origin.

Investigators are continuing to interview people who were in the building at the time of the fire.

Jennifer Cadle Mason, attorney for the owner of the Emmons Apartment buildings, spoke at the news conference. She's asking all residents to contact them to get personal belongings out of the buildings.

If you are a resident, you need to call (304) 741-1417 and set up an appointment with Jay. If you get his voicemail, please leave a message. They will help you get most personal items & property out of the building, but no TVs or heavy appliances.

Mason also said residents need to bring an ID and will need to meet the owners at the corner of 12th Street & 3rd Avenue--and wait for someone to come get them.
